Theni District

Theni District emerged after the bifurcation of the erstwhile Madurai District and lies in the western region of Tamil Nadu. The district shares its boundaries with Dindigul District to the north, Virudhunagar District to the southwest, Madurai District to the east, and Idukki District of Kerala to the west. The city of Theni functions as the district headquarters.
The district’s economy primarily depends on agriculture. Farmers cultivate crops such as cotton, cardamom, garlic, grapes, mangoes, and sugarcane. In addition, cotton spinning units and sugar mills play a major role in supporting the industrial growth of Theni District.
