Nagapattinam is a coastal district of Tamil Nadu, bordered by the Bay of Bengal to the east and at a distance of around 326 kilometers from Chennai. The district was formed by bifurcating the Erstwhile composite Thanjavur in the year 1991. It is well known for its exquisite history and culture. The town of Nagapattinam is the district headquarters.

Nagapattinam is a prominent pilgrimage and tourist center. It is famous for the mini museum, the towering lighthouse, and the long beautiful beach.
