Tiruchirappalli Government Museum can give you the best experience of knowing the real heritage of India.
It is situated near Rani mangammal hall, singarathope, Trichy. Established in the year 1983, this museum showcases things related to geology, zoology, paintings, anthropology, epigraphy etc.
Here you can see a statue of Mahavira Gautam Buddha, Lord Vishnu, fossils of the ancient times, tools of the Paleolithic, Neolithic ages etc.
Manuscripts on palm leaf can be seen here. A rare collection of ancient coins, statues of Lord thirumala, Saint Manickavasagar, Goddess Durga, Lord Nataraj etc can also be seen here.

Kallanai Dam is situated at about 19kms away from Trichy and is spread around 146.70 sq. km.
The Kallanai dam was constructed by the King Karikala Cholan in the 1st century to streamline water for fertilizing the delta region for irrigation purposes.
Also known as Grand Anicut, the water breaks into two channels after reaching Srirangam. One is known as Kollidam and another one is Poompuhar that merges with the Bay of Bengal.
The structure of the dam is very popular and is considered to be the oldest dam in the whole World and the literal meaning of the dam is “Stone Dam”.

Puliyancholai waterfalls
Puliyancholai Falls is located at about 72kms away from Trichy at the foothills of Kollimalai.
The water here is believed to be having certain medicinal properties.
The water is covered by dense plants and leaves and the water originates from inside of the Kollimalai hills.

Mukkombu is a picnic spot that is situated about 18kms away from Trichy. Cauvery river splits into Cauvery & Kollidam at this place.

We are proud to say that this is Asia’s largest Butterfly park that occupies 35 acres of land and is situated at Melur, Srirangam, Trichy.
Now, this park has become the main attractions of Trichy for tourists to enjoy. A tall Butterfly statue welcomes you in the park that is 15 feet tall which is a sight to watch. As the name suggests, the park mainly focuses on breeding of around 39 local species of butterfly.
These colorful butterflies are lovely to watch and makes you forget the whole world. If you wish to make a butterfly sit on you, you can ask the person in charge of the park to spray a scent that attracts butterflies.
Another specialty of the park is the Zodiac sign park (Nakshatra vanam) where you can plant a sapling for free as per your zodiac sign.
Each plant in the Zodiac park represents each Zodiac sign. Also, 12 plants are planted representing 12 Zodiac Sign(Rasi) of people.
The park is open for you on Weekdays from 6 am – 6 pm and on weekends from 7 am – 10 pm.

St. Mary’s Cathedral Church is located at Convent Road Melapudur, Trichy.
The church is dedicated to St. Mary who is famously known as “Mother of Good Health”, a literal translation of which means “Arogya Maatha”.
This is one of the oldest churches in India and was the “Mother Church”. It has been in existence for the past 170 years and was built by Jesuit missionary Fr.Louis Carnier.
Holy Mass is held on Sundays between 5.00 a.m and 6.30 a.m, 8.30 p.m and 6.00 p.m, and on Weekdays, it happens between 6.00 a.m and 6.00 p.m. Charismatic Healing Service is provided on Tuesdays from 6.00 to 8.30 p.m.
The church is kept open from 5.00 a.m to 12.00 noon and 4.00 to 8.00 p.m every day for people to make a general visit.
