Nilgiris Biosphere Nature Park is located at Anaikatti, that is about 32kms from Coimbatore city.

In order to preserve the flora and fauna of the Nilgiris Biosphere Reserve, this was started by the Coimbatore Zoological Park Society (CZPS) and in short, this park is known as NBNP.

It was established in the year 1975.There are over 480 species of 25,000 plants of which 85 species are found only in NBR. It is interesting that nearly 30% of these 85 species are endangered in the wild.

It is a place where tourists come to known about the heritage of the flora and fauna of Nilgiris.

The park has been awarded the Gerald Durrell Memorial Award and has been very much recognized by the National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) Lucknow, India, and Botanical Garden Conservation International (BGCI) UK.

It is open on all days between 9 AM to 5 PM except on Tuesdays as it is closed on all Tuesdays.

The District Central Library is one of the oldest libraries that was started in the year 1952 at Victoria Townhall with the aim to cater to the book needs of the public. Then in the midst of the year 1956, it was moved to VOC park.

As it was developing rapidly, it got relocated again to the current location ie; cowly brown road, RS Puram.

This library covers a huge carpet area of about 21453 sq.feet. It houses all ranges of books for all types of readers.

Well, readers say that it is the best place to sit and read peacefully with subtle noises from outside. The books are neatly segregated and arranged for easy accessibility.

The library houses around 2 lakhs books and the books have separate shelves with their respective category names to which they belong.

The Library timings are 8.00 AM TO 8.00 PM, Book Lending: 8.00 AM TO 7.30 PM, IAS Section: 10.00AM TO 7.00PM Friday and IInd Saturday and all Government Holidays.

Race Course Park is located near Income Tax Office Rd, Race Course, Gopalapuram, Coimbatore. It has a very good review from people in and around Coimbatore.

It has a pavement that is used by people to jog both in the morning and in the evening.

Children are allowed to play in a small play area that is separately there in the park.

VOC Park and Zoo is a popular place located very close to the bus terminus of Gandhipuram, Coimbatore. Well, it is named after V O Chidambaranar or V O Chidambaram Pillai and shortly called VOC park. This park is being maintained by Coimbatore city Corporation.

According to 2013 reports, the zoo has 890 animals including 335 birds, 106 mammals, and 54 reptiles.

This zoological park has a separate play area for children, toy trains and an aquarium etc.

Lakhs of people gathered here during the Jallikattu protest and made a history in the year 2017, mainly youngsters.

This is an event that has been added on to the history of Coimbatore. If you wish to visit VOC park when you are here, you are right as it is a place that can keep you engaged big time.

TNAU Botanical Garden is located at Marudhamalai, Coimbatore and is a very old park. This garden was established in the year 1925, and it is being maintained by Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU).

The garden occupies a huge space of about 3000 hectares of land and has a variety of plants, trees, flowers etc to keep the visitors excited about their visit.

They are extremely eye-catching and a cool place to visit. Entry fee for adults is Rs. 20/- and for kids it is Rs.10/-. Photographs are prohibited.

Organic products are sold out here at the entrance.

Vaidehi Falls is another waterfall that is known as Vaidehi falls which were named after the Tamil movie “Vaidehi Kaathirundhal”. It is located near Narasimhapuram village at a distance of 35kms away from Coimbatore.

This natural water slide is located in a deep forest near Narasimhapuram village. We should walk through the forest for nearly half an hour to reach this falls. Natural freshwater and the whole area is a dense forest.

This place is filled with wildlife more than any other place. In order to save them, visitors and tourists are prohibited here nowadays.

Monkey falls is located on the way to valparai which is about 65kms from Coimbatore. From Pollachi, it is about 27kms away.

Monkey falls is a popular location and is well suited for all ages. Kids, adults and old aged people can enjoy in the waters that flow down. With the scenic beauty that it offers, people go crazy and have a pleasant time thoroughly.

Trekking options are provided for travelers here. But, this Falls are filled with mountain cliffs that are too slippery. You have to be careful while trekking.

As the name suggests, monkeys are many in number and you need to watch out them too. Apart from these tips, Monkey Falls is an awesome place to visit.

Siruvani falls and Siruvani Dam can be visited at the same as they are close by. It is situated 37kms towards the west of Coimbatore.

Siruvani water takes care of all the water needs of the city and the reservoir here was constructed by the Kerala Government for Tamil Nadu through the funds collected by the Tamil Nadu government.

This area offers trekking, camping, bird watching, walking etc. Forest department can make arrangements for your camping if you are planning to.

A charge of Rs.50 should be paid at the check post and that’s it. Nothing more. Just fun and adventure.

The water is sweet to taste and it is believed to be the second sweetest water in the universe.

Kovai Kuttralam Falls is a pleasant place. It is located 35kms away towards the west from the city. Situated in the Siruvani Hill range, it originates from the Siruvani hill range making people go Awww, with its beauty.

This is maintained by the forest department as it is deep inside the dense forest area and one is not permitted to enter the falls after 5 PM.

Private vehicles are not allowed inside and there are few vehicles provided by the forest department to take you inside.

No shops are there after the forest gates. If you are at Coimbatore, this is a must place to be visited. Don’t miss the fun.
