The best time to visit the beach would be from November to March. The beach attracts lot of tourists to witness the breathtaking view of sunrise and sunset.

How to reach Kanyakumari beach

Kanyakumari is well connected by road with all major cities in South India. Kanyakumari Railway Junction is the nearest rail head (1.5 kilometres away). There are regular trains connecting Kanyakumari to Trivandrum, Chennai and Tirunelveli.

The nearest airport is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport (95 kilometres away).

Thiruvanmiyur beach is one of the famous beaches in South Chennai. Thiruvanmiyur is very close to the IT-Hub.

It’s a pleasant & clean beach to go with family & kids. Kids will love to play there in the sand. Not suitable for swimming.

This beach was less crowded beach when compared to Besant Nagar beach, Marina Beach and all.

The Nearby Thiruvanmiyur Beach is the popular Marundeeswarar Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. You could also visit Kalakshetra which is world famous for dance school and handicrafts.

Covelong Beach | Kovalam Beach, Chennai

Covelong beach is also known as the Kovalam beach, it is located en route to Mahabalipuram. It’s basically fisher men’s beach.

To be precise, it is located about 40kms away from Chennai. Windsurfing and swimming activities happen here often. An abode of Nature one should never miss admiring.

Temples, church, surround this beach and a Dharga can also be visited nearby this place.

A Dutch fort was built centuries back and that has been converted into Taj Fisherman’s Cove, which is one of the best beach resorts one can stay at.

Well, to be at peace one must go to Marina Beach.

It is Country’s longest beach and World’s second longest beach with a distance of 6.45kms, that runs from St. George fort towards the south.

Fishing is legally prohibited here.

In the day it may be sunny during the summer season, but in the evening, this place is to die for. A heavenly place one must surely visit.

One can see a lot of stalls, many children playing and small vendors selling toys; edibles etc to fill your tummy too.

This beach attracts 30 to 40 thousand tourists on a yearly basis apart from the local residents of Chennai. It is a prominent place and many events take place here.

Most significant “Jallikattu” protest took place at Marina and that gained worldwide attention. After this event, politicians have started using this place exclusively for protests.

Another prominent event is the Annual immersion of Ganesha that happens here during the Vinayaga Chathurthi festival.
