Overview:
Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu is located on the northeastern corner of the state and is bounded by the Bay of Bengal. The district was formerly known as Madrasapattinam or Madras District. Chennai district still holds all the elements of the Dravidian civilization even as it has now come to the fore as a cosmopolitan city. The capital city representing the economic, historical, cultural and intellectual development of our country is also referred to as the “Gateway of India”.
Chennai is popularly and fondly known as “Singara Chennai”, has a diverse fair of heritage, culture, architecture, art, sculptures, music and technology.
Chennai is a place with a very strong historical background combined with a famous cultural heritage like Classical dance, Musical fests, Sculptures, Crafts and Architecture etc. It is a place best suited for both old generation and youngsters. Air – Chennai International Airport is located at a distance of 7 kilometers from the main city.
