Muktheeswarar Temple, Madurai
Muktheeswarar Temple is as old as 1000 to 2000 years and is located at Theppakulam, Meenakshi Nagar, Madurai.
The main deity of this temple is Muktheeswarar with his pair Goddess Maragathavalli. Lord Shiva is in the name of Muktheeswarar and Goddess Parvathi is in the name of Maragathavalli.
It is believed that Lord Sun worships Lord Shiva here and therefore, there is no Navagraham in the temple. It is said that sunrays fall on the deity of Muktheeswarar from 10th to 23th in the month of March and from 18th to 30th in the month of September every year and stays for about 20 minutes every day. It is believed that the prayers of the devotees are answered in this temple.
Four varieties of Vilwa tree are housed here, namely: Nelli, Kiluvai, Mavilangai and Vilwa. As the name says Muktheeswarar gives salvation to those who seek his blessings and also a satisfactory life on earth.
The temple is open from 6 AM to 11 AM and in the evenings from 4PM and 8PM. Make sure to visit the temple and get blessed in your life.
