Vadapalani Murugan Temple was built about 125 years ago and is the most popular temples of Chennai.

Another name for this temple is Vadapalani Andavar temple and is located at Vadapalani as the name says.

The biggest event that takes place in this temple is the marriages of the couple, those who feel that this is the most auspicious place to seek the blessings of Almighty on their big day.

Incredibly, more than 7000 marriages happen in a year. If we closely look at the history of this temple, a devotee of Lord Muruga, had a painting of Muruga to worship. Later, it is said that because of the divine power of the Lord, he was able to forecast the future of the people known as “Arul Vaaku” (Godly statements) that become true miraculously.

The main deity of the temple is Lord Muruga along with many other sannidhis.

Rajagopuram was built when the temple was renovated in the year 1920.

Cine stars visited this temple frequently and that was the topmost reason for its popularity.

The visiting hours of the temple is from 5.30 am to 12 pm and from 4 pm to 9 pm.
